In the lead-up to ANZAC Day each year, community representatives from the Coolum/Peregian RSL Sub Branch and Quota Coolum Beach diligently hold a stall out front of Coles selling memorabilia with all money raised going back into the local RSL. Items for sale included handmade poppies from the Quota ladies in both red and purple, the latter commemorating the animals who went to war. A fitting reminder as to how important animals are with Laurie Cattanach, an ex-Australian Army officer at the stall with ‘Buddy’ his PTSD assistance dog who was under the table. Judie Turner from Quota Coolum Beach was also there helping with the stall and raising those much-needed funds for such a worthy cause. Lest we forget.
